Our Communities

The heart of our work is our deep connection to the diverse communities we serve. Our aim is to engage with each of our communities in a respectful manner that is sensitive, respectful and promotes growth.

To do so, we:

  • Bring people, organizations, and interests together to create partnerships.
  • Connect ideas with resources and information to facilitate action.
  • Contribute our talents, energy, and creativity to solve problems.

The communities we serve include:

Our research parks

University research parks are more than parcels of land and the buildings that sit on them.  They are thriving communities of innovation -- fertile environments where each day thousands of Arizonans live, learn, work and play.

At the UA Tech Park and the UA Bio Park, aspiring entrepreneurs rub elbows with seasoned leaders of Fortune 500 companies. Students from kindergarten through college get a first-hand look at the world of scientists and engineers.  And innovation thrives in first-class facilities surrounded by outdoor environments that invite exploration and appreciation of the natural world.

The University of Arizona

Office of University Research Parks is part of the initiative Tech Launch Arizona - a new approach to managing the commercialization of technologies at the University of Arizona.

  • We work with our colleagues at the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship and the Office of Technology Transfer  to assist faculty and students in commercializing their research.
  • We promote the recognition and appreciation of innovation and the role it plays at UA through out annual Innovation Day celebration.
  • We connect student interns with meaningful opportunities in high tech companies.
  • We link faculty members and graduate students with private sector companies in need of their expertise.
  • We help to attract technology companies that provide high-paying, challenging, local jobs for our graduates.

Our neighbors

While our research parks are communities in their own rights, they are also strongly connected to their surrounding communities.  Our research parks create jobs, and employees of our research park companies spend their money in the local communities, purchasing goods and services that range from haircuts to homes.  The result is far-reaching economic benefit to Tucson, Pima County, and the State of Arizona.

But we are committed to working with our neighbors to ensure that our research parks are more than employment centers.  We work with public and private sector partners to facilitate the creation of recreational and educational opportunities, job training, retail outlets, and housing options that benefit our whole community.

And beyond...

To serve the needs of our local communities effectively, we also need to look beyond our immediate environment and work with state, regional, national, and international partners.
